About Nicky
Bio
Nicky Loh started out writing music articles for magazines at 17 but soon switched to photography when he figured out that one picture earned him the same money for writing a thousand words. Till today, he still believes that he coined the phrase “A picture is worth a thousand words”.
Nicky enjoys shooting everything with a photojournalistic twist to it while adding a touch of avant-garde and timelessness to his pictures.
Priding himself as one of the last few fluent speakers of the Hainanese dialect in Singapore, Nicky has the uncanny ability to eat chicken rice and kaya toast everyday.
Being brought up his Grandma (Ah Por), Nicky has a super soft spot for the elderly.
He still hopes to direct a zombie movie one day because his childhood and adulthood were filled with George Romero "Dead" series movies.
The guy is a serious clean freak with unlimited bottles of alcohol disinfectant at home. He hates handling money (especially wet notes), holding on to escalator handles and opening toilet doors (he usually waits for someone to open it first).
Other random facts include: First crush rejected Nicky because she said he looked like a monkey. He was 12.
Picked up the guitar at 16 to pick up chicks. Didn't realize that he needed vocal lessons too so that failed. Still has dreams of wanting to start a rock band despite gentle dissuasions about the quality of his singing!
Nicky loves music especially Rachael Yamagata, Feist, Zero 7 and Regina Spektor.
Afraid of heights. Refuses to comment anymore after freaking out on a ferris wheel.
